Check out the article:

http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/02/after-ipad-initiative-failure-school-supe-says-la-cant-buy-computers-for-all/

Note that it says that:

"I don’t believe we can afford a device for every student,” Cortines told the Los Angeles Times, “Education shouldn’t become the gimmick of the year.” Cortines added that LAUSD had never made a definitive plan for how teachers would have used the iPads during instruction, nor had it planned how it was going to pay for the tablets over time.

So, the iPads are the gimmick of the year?
And the school never had a plan for how the iPads would be used during instruction?
And what about the payment over time .. the iPads age and you have to replace them?

I seem to note that Deer Canyon could not specify exactly how the iPads would be used in the classroom, and in particular never disclosed how much time the iPads would be used. It is critical that a plan for a new teaching aid cover how it is to be used and how much time it is to be used.

Note that other schools have created 30 year bonds to pay for the iPads. But what iPad last 30 years?
