Alternative way to "Opt Out" Empty Alternative way to "Opt Out"

At back to school night it was mentioned that if you selected "Limited Access" on the white "POWAY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT 2014-2015 Signature Verification of Receipt of Documents / Release of Information" form that your child would not be able to run many of the apps on the iPad. That is, apps such as "Spelling city", "Xtra Math" and others would fail to run for your child if you selected "Limited Access."

By selecting "Limited Access" on this form you can send a message to the school that you don't want your child using these "internet" type apps. Note that your child will still have access to Compass Learning, online textbooks, Learning point, Discovery and Follett.

Apparently you can change this form at any time.

What do people think about sending a message to the school using this form and selecting "Limited Access?"

What will kids with "limited access" do when the other kids are using the iPads?

The kids that have limited access will do the same assignment as the other kids using "traditional" materials. For example: Kids read a short story, then they summarize the story in their own words and draw pictures of the key points of the story. The kids using the iPads, will take pictures of the book, and key in comments to generate a summary of the story. Where the kids without the iPads will draw the pictures by hand (color them in too), and hand write the captions for the pictures they drew to generate a summary of the story. Thus it is the same assignment.
