Mesa Verde changes the rules
Last year the kids were able to use their cell phones at the school. This year it is forbidden. Even during lunch. Does anybody know why the sudden change?

Mesa Verde sent the following message. Note that they received feedback. This is important because it shows that the school listens to parents when it comes to changes in technology. Something we should keep in our minds. We can make a difference if we keep our voice strong. Here is the message:
Technology Use at Mesa Verde
While our students are encouraged to bring devices to enhance their learning in the classroom, we do have a change in school policy, which clearly prohibits students from using those devices or others for playing games, accessing social media, and other non-schoolwork related uses throughout the school day. This rule applies from the beginning of school until the end of the day (what we call “bell to bell”).
During the 2015-2016 school year, we piloted a policy of allowing students to game during their lunch break. At the conclusion of the year, the overwhelming feedback was to return to our policy of limited devices to educational needs.
This policy will be strictly enforced during throughout the school day. Students found using devices for any reason other than completing schoolwork under the supervision of an adult will have their device confiscated for the remainder of the day. We hope for your support with this policy.
